Prerequisites
- Microsoft Entra Administrator Access
- The consent link from a teacher who started Microsoft Teams teacher setup
Grant administrator consent
1
Open the consent link
Open the consent link the teacher sent you. A teacher gets this link
when they start Microsoft Teams setup and Microsoft asks for
administrator approval.
2
Approve the application
Sign in with an administrator account for the same school tenant, review
the requested Microsoft Education permissions, and accept them for the
organization.
3
Verify the approval
Message the teacher and ask them to sign in again. Setup is complete
when they reach Type the Word without an approval-required error. See
Microsoft Teams teacher setup.
A teacher has to start Microsoft Teams setup before you can approve Type the
Word. The consent link is created during that first sign-in. Administrator
consent then approves the application for the tenant. Teachers still sign in
individually so Type the Word can synchronize the classes they teach.
Troubleshooting
- Consent is denied: Confirm the administrator belongs to the same tenant as the teacher.
- A personal account opens: Sign out and choose the school or work Microsoft account.
- Teacher still sees approval required: Ask the teacher to start setup again, send a fresh consent link, and verify approval completed for the correct tenant.
