Prerequisites

  • Your administrator has enabled Type the Word in Google Workspace.
  • Your school Google account is a teacher in at least one active Google Classroom course.
  • The students you expect to teach are enrolled in that course.

Sign in as a teacher

1

Open Type the Word

Go to the Type the Word login page and choose Teacher.
Type the Word login page with the Teacher role selected

Choose the teacher role before selecting a sign-in provider.

2

Choose Google

Select Continue with Google.
Type the Word teacher login page with Continue with Google available

Continue with the school Google account used for Google Classroom.

3

Approve access

Select the school Google account you use for Google Classroom, then review and approve the requested Classroom permissions.
Type the Word verifies that the selected Google account belongs to a teacher. If Google reports a student account, start over and choose Student instead.

Verify your classes

  1. Open Classes if you are not taken there automatically.
  2. Confirm the expected courses appear.
  3. Open one course and select Students.
  4. Compare the roster with Google Classroom.

Troubleshooting

  • No classes appear: Confirm you selected the Google account that teaches the course and that the course is active.
  • Google blocks access: Ask your Workspace administrator to confirm both Type the Word OAuth applications are approved.
  • Wrong role message: Start over from the login page and choose the role that matches the Google account.
  • A student is missing: Add the student in Google Classroom, then reload Type the Word.
