# Set up a Google Classroom student

> Sign in to Type the Word as a student and verify access to a Google Classroom course.

## Prerequisites

* Your teacher has verified the class in Type the Word.
* Your school Google account is enrolled in the correct Google Classroom course.
* You know which school Google account your teacher expects you to use.

## Sign in as a student

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Type the Word">
    Go to the [Type the Word login
    page](https://www.typetheword.com/auth/login?callbackUrl=%2Fhome) and
    choose **Student**.

    enrolled in your class.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve access">
    Review and approve the requested Classroom permissions.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Always use the rostered school account. Type the Word does not match
  students to classes by a similar name or email address.
</Note>

## Verify access

1. Confirm you reach the student home page.
2. Find the class or assignment your teacher asked you to open.
3. Open it and confirm the class name is correct.

## Troubleshooting

* **No class or assignment appears:** Confirm the same Google account is enrolled in the teacher's Classroom course.
* **Wrong role message:** Start over and choose **Student** before continuing with Google.
* **Google blocks access:** Ask your teacher or Workspace administrator to verify Type the Word is approved for students.
* **Shared device shows another student:** Sign out of Type the Word before starting the next student's login.

## Setup complete

Student onboarding is complete when the student can sign in and open the expected class or assignment.
