# Connect to Canvas

> Add a Canvas portal link for quick student authentication, and sync assignments and grades with Canvas.

## Prerequisites

* You've already completed the [Connect your SIS](/canvas/connect-sis) guide.
* Administrator access to Canvas.

## What you get

After this connection, teachers and students can open Type the Word from
Canvas. Type the Word assignments and grades sync with Canvas.

## Request the LMS Connect invite

Email Josh Wootonn at [josh@typetheword.com](mailto:josh@typetheword.com)
and ask him to send an LMS Connect invite to the same administrator email
you used for [Connect your SIS](/canvas/connect-sis). Wait for that email
before you continue.

## Connect Canvas in AnySchool

Follow Clever's [Connecting your learning applications and LMS with
AnySchool](https://support.clever.com/s/articles/000001734) guide. Open the
link in Josh's email, choose Canvas, and create the LMS Connect developer
key when Clever asks.

This is a new Canvas developer key. Do not reuse the key from [Connect your
SIS](/canvas/connect-sis). That key is only for Canvas sign-in.

To add the Type the Word launch link in Canvas, follow Clever's [LTI SSO for
LMS Connect](https://support.clever.com/s/articles/000001647).

## Wait for record matching

Clever matches Canvas users to the AnySchool roster. That usually takes 2–3
days. You will receive an email when matching is complete.

You can generate LTI 1.3 links for Type the Word while you wait. Those
launches do not work until the matching email arrives.

## Setup complete

Canvas setup is complete when the matching email arrives and a teacher can
launch Type the Word from Canvas. Continue with [teacher
setup](/canvas/teacher-setup).

## Troubleshooting

* **The invite expired:** Email [josh@typetheword.com](mailto:josh@typetheword.com) for a new LMS Connect link.
* **Logins fail after setup:** Wait for the matching-complete email before teachers and students launch from Canvas.
